lynx spider + bee prey 2
The day after one of the friendly resident female lynx spiders ate a leafcutter bee, I caught her eating this honeybee. General predators like spiders eat whatever they can get: The Good (honeybees), The Bad (house flies), The Ugly (stinkbugs), and even The Beautiful (butterflies). In theory, if a pest species (or any species for that matter) becomes overabundant due to environmental imbalances or weather or chemical use or such, the general predators will catch more of that species than the less numerous and so help to re-establish balance to the species mix.
