Katydid in the House

This forktailed bush katydid, scudderia furcata, seems to have forsaken her namesake environment by leaving the bush behind and hanging around and even inside the house over the past week.

We first met her flying in the back door, the she was later seen clinging onto the siding of the front porch. Then she was back inside at the window checking out the mini-blinds. Sheesh. I caught her and let her out the door (again) where she flew to a nice perch next to the mail slot. Last seen hanging onto the porch post looking like she might venture onto the nearby (scary?) crassula.

Why does she like our house so much when there is a big juicy garden out there to eat and lay eggs in?
