Leucadendron salignum, planted back in fall because it's red foliage looked so cool with the
Ruellia brittoniana in full purple bloom at the time, is in bloom just in time to commemorate a very special blogger's birthday. I forget which variety this is but the species common name, Common Sunshine Conebush, is good enough for me: common as sunshine and just as precious.
