At last a day wet enough to cancel work! Office work not withstanding, I took a tour of the estate and found this snail guarding the opening to the front garden at nearly elevenses. Dense cloud cover and high humidity convince mollusks it's safe to be wandering in the open. I let this one go because it was so pretty, but a few of its slug cousins met a bitter fate in retribution for the sorry state of my rudbeckia transplants which are apparently tastier than beer or any other plant in the kingdom to a slug.
