This female crane fly (
nephrotoma wulpiana as best I can figure--one of the tiger crane flies) showed up on the porch this morning. Typical after a rain like we had last night for them to emerge as adults. With love in the air, it's a good time for it since the primary function of her short adult life is to mate and lay eggs in some soft earth rich with organic muck a muck like that from whence she arose. Good luck with that, tigress.
