TGIL: Salvia

Salvia madrensis, forsythtia sage, is a big, coarse, towering thing best saved for the back 40 or that property in the desert you've been thinking about buying. It's got these amazing highly textured leaves for your Friday enjoyment and in a few weeks it will be topped with long spikes of bright yellow flowers. Yellow is a refreshing color both for salvias and for us as we venture further into the dark side of the year.

Very cool picture - I've looked at salvia a bunch of times before and have never seen it like this.
