Orthopteran evaporation

Yesterday, the first warmish sunny day in awhile found these members of the orthopteran family drying off and gathering rays the morning after our coldly uncharacteristic equinoxical rainstorm.

Wow! That grasshopper that you've got above is definitely the ubiuitous local native (AND immensely LARGE!) Gray Bird Grasshopper (Schistocerca Nitens--whew!) -- no two ways about it.
