New Mexico #2

The friendly folks at bugguide.net have helped identify this as a lichen moth, probably lycomorpha fulgens. It and more of its kind were foraging at midday among the wildflowers in the Chama River Canyon. The wings of this moth, which is apparently diurnal and whose larvae feed on lichen, were just about the same color as the sandstone cliffs towering overhead. Never a dull moment when you vacation with the bugs.
